IS TYLER THAI???

Einige von Euch haben gefragt, ob Tyler denn die thailaendische Staatsbuergerschaft oder die deutsche bekommen wird. Da wir beide deutsche Staatsbuerger sind, wird auch Tyler einen deutschen Reisepass bekommen und keinen thailaendischen. Momentan haben wir aber erst einmal nur die thailaendische Geburtsurkunde und muessen fuer weitere Dokumente zur deutschen Botschaft nach Bangkok. Dort koennen wir Tyler dann registrieren lassen, seinen Reisepass beantragen und auch Roberts Vaterschaftsanerkennung beantragen, da wir ja nicht verheiratet sind. Da liegen so einige Behoerdengaenge vor uns, aber man bekommt hier gute Auskuenfte. So war ich vor Tyler's Geburt im deutschen Konsulat in Phuket und habe mich dort mit Herrn Naumann unterhalten. Er hat uns die Kontaktdaten fuer Bangkok gegeben und war sehr hilfreich. Fuer Eltern, die vorhaben nach Thailand zu reisen, hier ein kleiner Tip. Thailand akzeptiert einen Kinderausweis (Kinderreisepass) oder den Eintrag der Kinder im elterlichen Pass nicht und man darf damit nicht ins Land einreisen. Das Kind braucht seinen eigenen Reisepass. 

Some of you have asked if Tyler will get the Thai citizenship or the German. Since we are both German citizens, Tyler will also get a German passport and not a Thai one. But currently we have only the Thai birth certificate and have to go to the German embassy in Bangkok for all other documents. There we can have Tyler registered in Germany, apply for a passport and for Roberts acknowledgment of paternity, because we are not married. There are some visits to the administration offices ahead of us, but you get good information here. Before Tyler's birth I was at the German Consulate in Phuket and had a chat there with Mr. Naumann. He has given us the contact details for Bangkok and was very helpful. For parents who plan to travel to Thailand, here's a little advise. Thailand does not accept a child ID card, as you can get in Germany or the entry of children in the parents passport. The child will not be allowed to enter Thailand without his or her very own passport.
